Residential Fire on North 11th Street – June 21, 2025

At 11:57 p.m. on June 21st, the Estherville Fire Department was dispatched to a fully involved
residential structure fire on North 11th Street. Upon arrival, fire officers observed flames venting through the roof of the two-story residence, with the detached garage also fully engulfed. All residents had safely evacuated prior to the department's arrival.

Due to strong southwest winds reaching 30 to 35 mph, the garage of a neighboring property to the north began to ignite. Fire crews quickly initiated an aggressive attack on the primary structure, allowing additional resources to focus on protecting the adjacent property. The primary
residence sustained major damage, while the neighboring garage received only minor damage thanks to the rapid response.

Estherville Fire Department was on scene for approximately five hours. Mutual aid was provided
by Wallingford Fire and Ambulance, Gruver Fire Department, Spirit Lake Fire Department, Estherville Police Department, Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, Estherville Ambulance,  Estherville Electric, and the Estherville Water Department.

At 6:16 a.m. on June 22nd, Estherville Fire was paged back to the scene for a rekindle and
conducted an additional hour of
overhaul operations.

The fire remains under investigation currently. No injuries were reported.
